First of all, passing the PMP exam, though not very difficult, requires you to learn and understand. Based on my experience of learning PMP certification, getting the 5A result is simple. What you need to do is to keep reading books and doing exercises for two months.
In the beginning, it is not recommended to do exercises in applications. Or maybe you can have a try, but do not spend much time on it. At the moment, you are solving questions depending on your reading and understanding abilities. However, you cannot tell which knowledge point is contained in a question. You may answer many questions correctly, but you don’t have a systematic knowledge structure. Our goal is to choose every answer with sufficient reasons and evidence. You can find the corresponding knowledge of each question, which means you are reviewing when solving problems. Therefore, it is not necessary to do many exercises at an early stage. The first thing you should do is to read books such as SPOTO’s Guide to PMP Exam and PMBOK. Read them every day. I read Dr. Wang’s Guide firstly, one or two chapters a day. Then I start reading PMBOK. As two months go by fast, one chapter a day in fact is slow in progress since you have to do questions later on and review these books several times. At the late stage, you should be capable of finding the knowledge points in books when encountering relevant questions. This is a process of enhancing your memory.
Three stages can be further divided when you begin doing exercises. 1. When you start reading books for the second time, you can do related questions for each chapter. 2. After reading books three times, to do the simulated questions. 3. Make a one-month rush before the exam. At the first stage, the function of doing exercises is to help you know what kinds of questions will be given according to a certain knowledge point so that we can be clear of what content will be put in the exam. When you start reading books for the third time, you can put a focus on key points. Before getting into the simulated questions, review your mistakes firstly to further understand and memorize relevant knowledge. Do not recite the answers. When you can do all the questions that have been done wrong before correctly, you can do PMP sample questions. Basically, I did one or two sets of simulated questions a day. Time should be well controlled during the process. Do not spend 2 minutes more doing one question. When I did for the first, it took about one minute to do every question. The low accuracy at the beginning does not matter, which has little reference value. I would check the explanations of the question I did wrong. If I still could not understand, I would take it to ask teachers. Gradually, your correct rate will be increased. Doing ten sets of simulations takes about a month. Then, we can start doing for the second time. There are two purposes. One is to increase accuracy, another is to lift up speed. I did simulated papers three times. The first time, I spent 100 minutes with 65% accuracy. The second, 90 minutes with 80% accuracy. The third, 70 minutes, 95% accuracy. I believe you will be the same as me after doing a paper three times. Then, we enter the final sprint stage. Personally, the correction of questions of quality and change management should reach 100%. You will be more confident if you have done so many questions and the possibility of passing PMP test will be largely increased.
You should carefully listen to PMP certification courses. Read lecture notes before each class to know about the class content ahead of time. Take notes while listening. You will find it easier to memorize and understand knowledge after listening explanations of teachers. In short, preview, listening carefully and take notes.
After going through two-month PMP exam prep, you come to a nervous moment. Remember to take ID card and admission ticket with you. Other exam tools and water will be provided at the exam center. The exam lasts four hours, so make sure to have a good rest. Though four hours are theoretically enough for finishing 200 questions, some people still have trouble finishing the exam in time. Therefore, it is important to allocate time reasonably. I have seen that some people hand in the paper very early while some very late. I submitted half an hour early. I did fast at the beginning and slowed down appropriately. It is not necessary to get in tangled when you are uncertain about answers. Mark out the uncertain questions and do the following questions first. I suggest you not to change the answer you are uncertain with for intuition leads to higher correction unless you are sure of which is the correct answer. Do remember to practice speeding up doing questions before you take the real exam.
