Before you find yourself at the final table of a major poker tournament, you must first have a good understanding of the rules and regulations that guide them. This is even truer for cricket betting online games as they often have such large fields and offer so many different variants.
When playing WPT poker online, you will find a wide range of tournament types, buy-ins, and structures. While each of these different games has slightly nuanced rules, in today’s post we will mainly take a look at the basic rules that you can expect from any kind of tourney:
1. Entrance Fees and Registration
Unlike cash games, tournaments have a set buy-in amount which makes up the prize pool. For freezeouts, you know exactly what the payout will be by the time the tourney starts. For rebuy and add-on tournaments, you have to wait until the end of the rebuy period before the total amount is revealed.
2. Tables Seating Structure
Most tournaments will be 9-handed. 8-handed games and 6-handed games are also very popular. The software attempts to keep all active tables having the same number of players, although this isn’t always possible as people are constantly being eliminated.
3. Absent Player Protocol
In the event that a player isn’t active at the table (or has been disconnected) they will continue to be blinded off until they either return or blind out.
4. Blind Speed and Structure
The blind clock is one of the most diverse aspects of online poker. Blinds can be anywhere from 3 to 30 minutes, drastically altering the proper strategy for any given game. WPT poker offers a wide variety of these options.
5. Various Tournament-Specific Rules
Since there are so many different types of tournaments, there are many rules which apply only to specific games. For example, in an All-In or Fold tournament, you only have two options (you guessed it), you can either move all your chips in or muck.
6. Hand-for-Hand Play
Whenever a tournament is close to a bubble, (such as the payout bubble or final table bubble), the table’s action will temporarily pause to make sure each table plays an equal number of hands until the final elimination.
7. Disconnection Timer and Timebank
Players have a certain amount of time to make a decision. Oftentimes, they will have a timebank, which gives them an additional amount of time to think. If it runs out, your hand will be folded.
8. Multiple Flight Tournaments
Multi-flight tourneys last for at least two days, and sometimes longer. These games have very large fields and day 1 is played in multiple sessions. From day two on, the field is usually combined and plays at the same time.
